Privacy Policy

Echoes of the North ("we", "us") is a small independent creative business based in the North of England. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and the personalised video service, and how we use it, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect and why
- Email enquiries. When you email us, we receive your email address, name, and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to reply and to carry out any order you place.
- Photographs you send for a personalised video. If you commission a personalised video, the photographs and details you provide are used solely to create your video. We don't publish, share or reuse your photographs without your permission, and we delete working files a reasonable time after your order is complete unless you ask us to keep them.
- Photographs you submit to the community collection. If you send us a photograph through our submission page, we collect your name, email address, the details you provide about the photograph, your credit preference, and the photograph itself. We keep submitted photographs in a private collection and use them, and restored or reconstructed versions of them, in Echoes films and content in line with the permissions you give on the form. We contact you by email only about your submission. Original photographs are not published in full resolution. You can withdraw permission for future use of your photograph at any time by emailing us; content already published may remain online.
- Payment details. Payments are arranged directly by email. We don't store card details, and this website doesn't process payments.
Cookies and analytics
This site doesn't set advertising cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may log your IP address when the font files are requested. Films are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode; YouTube may set cookies once you press play, and Google's privacy policy applies to playback. If simple visitor analytics are added in future, this policy will be updated to say so.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The affiliate networks involved may set their own cookies when you click through to their sites; their privacy policies apply on those sites.
Who we share information with
Nobody, except services needed to run the business — our email is provided by Google Workspace, so messages you send us are processed by Google, and photo submissions made through our submission form are delivered to us by FormSubmit, a form-forwarding service that passes your submission to our email. We never sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Emails and order details are kept as long as needed for the order and for basic business records, then deleted. Community photo submissions are kept in our private collection for as long as we may feature them, unless you ask us to remove yours.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it's used. Just email us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data.
